THE INDIANAPOLIS 500: Tell us what you think! Stories you have experienced.

I have been going to the Indianapolis 500 since 1963. This will be my 45th year in a row! I have been to all of the NASCAR (Brickyard 400's) and all of the F-1 races.

No race is quite like the 500, especially the sound of the 33 cars entering the 1st turn @ 225+ mph. Cold chills... It is real pleasure to take someone new to the 500 for the first time. They never stop talking about the experience in a positive light.

The product that Tony George has put together, since taking over, is fabulous!Congratulations to all concerned at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

At 11:16am on May 8th, 2008, Carl Niethammer said…: Now that I live in the INDY area going to the 500 in a "no-brainer" but, back in my highschool days growing up in St. Louis ...going to the 500 time trials were events to plan for. We'd all skip school and drive over to Indianapolis and camp out in our cars. Time trials and the "infield" were a little different then ... it was like going to Woodstock but with a lot of fast cars and drivers that no loger are around. We couldn't afford to go on race day but I don't think we missed out on much.

After 15 minutes, a man and a woman came out of the toilet pulling their clothes up. You get the picture. Wow. There was a long line and a loud cheer. It was in the Snakepit area.
